Recommend a Commencement Speaker
The Commencement Speaker Committee is seeking recommendations for upcoming graduation ceremonies. Before nominating a speaker, please consider the following questions:
- Is the person known to be a good public speaker with a meaningful message
- Would the message focus on the graduating students
- Is the speaker a leader in his or her field or linked to important issues
- Does the speaker have name recognition
Once each quarter, the committee will consider the nominations and make recommendations to the president, with the most weight being given to nominations accompanied by a thoughtful rationale.
At a minimum, please provide the name of the person you are recommending, a rationale for your suggestion, and the quarter and year you are graduating (students only). If available, please provide biographical information for your nominee, such as title/employer/institution or a link to the nominee's web site. Optional information includes your e-mail and classification if you are a student (undergraduate, graduate, professional).
Please Note: Recommendations are for future commencement ceremonies -- not for the current quarter.
