Security precautions for family and guests

To ensure the safety of all graduates and their guests, heightened security measures will be in effect throughout commencement ceremonies and events. We thank you for your cooperation with these important precautions.

Ohio Stadium opens at 10:00 a.m. on commencement day. No tickets are required. The following stadium gates will be open the public: Gates 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 23 and 25 on the West side; Gates 8, 12, 14, 16, 18, 24 and 26 on the East side. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Prohibited items

  • Alcohol
  • Coolers
  • Backpacks
  • Large handbags
  • Metal folding seat cushions
  • Seats that clamp onto bleachers
  • Noisemaking devices
  • Mace, pepper spray, aerosol cans or similar substances
  • Signs, banners, sticks or poles
  • Weapons or items that mimic weapons including, but not limited to: lighters, matches, firearms (including Concealed Carry Weapon permit holders), fireworks, pocket knives, knives, spiked bracelets, brass knuckles, martial arts weapons, stun guns, squirt guns, super soakers, rope and chains
  • Any item deemed dangerous or inappropriate
  • Wrapped gifts or packages

Guests should expect a visual inspection of person, bags and clothing capable of concealing prohibited items. Your cooperation is appreciated.

Permitted items

  • Food and clear water bottles
  • Cameras
  • Video recorders
  • Binoculars
  • Small handbags (14" x 14" x 4" or smaller)
  • Pagers
  • Cell phones
  • Seat cushions
  • "Umbrella"-style strollers that can be stowed under your seat. Stroller storage is not available inside the stadium
  • Clothes for weather conditions
  • Umbrellas (permitted, but use during ceremony is discouraged)
